BASIS International School Bangkok is recognized as an approved Advanced Placement (AP) Exam Center, providing our students with the opportunity to push themselves academically and excel in their studies. As high school students prepare for the transition to college, having access to AP courses and exams can greatly enhance their college applications and better prepare them for the rigorous academic challenges that lie ahead.

Advanced Placement (AP) courses are a key component of the high school experience for students aiming to excel academically. AP exam scores can enable students to bypass introductory college courses and, in some cases, earn college credit even before they start their university journey. Earning college credit with AP can also give students the flexibility to change majors, pursue a second degree, study abroad, or apply for internships. AP exams are recognized globally and it is a significant factor in the admissions decisions of many top-ranked colleges and universities worldwide.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, we are offering the following AP classes and examinations:

  1. AP World History: Modern – Explore global history from 1200 CE to the present, students will analyze historical evidence and write essays expressing historical arguments.
  2. AP Biology – Dive into the scientific principles of living organisms, their processes, and interactions within ecosystems.
  3. AP Physics 1: Algebra-Based – Learn about the foundational principles of physics, including motion, forces, and energy. Students will do hands-on laboratory work to investigate phenomena.
  4. AP Physics 2: Algebra-Based – Continue with advanced topics in physics, such as fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and electromagnetism.
  5. AP Psychology – Study the principles of psychology, including human behavior, mental processes, and psychological concepts.
  6. AP Drawing – An Introductory to college-level drawing course. Students will develop drawing skills while experimenting with materials and processes.
  7. AP 2-D Art and Design – Develop 2-D skills through materials and processes such as graphic design, photography, fashion illustration, and others. Student will create artwork that reflects their own ideas and skills they have learned
  8. AP 3-D Art and Design – Develop 3-D skills in materials and processes, such as sculpture, architectural rendering and others.
  9. AP Calculus AB – Master the concepts, methods, and applications of differential and integral calculus. calculus. Understand the theoretical basis and solve problems by applying knowledge and skills.
  10. AP Human Geography – Analyze relationships and patterns in human activities, including human population, migration, and land use.
